Conversation overheard in the office today. Both of these women were entirely serious:

WOMAN 1: "Have you heard of that new movie coming out soon... Twilight 4?"
WOMAN 2: "Oh yeah. It sounded like a documentary."

A belated Merry Christmas and an on-time Happy 2010 to everyone! I just returned from a trip to visit The Matriarch in New Jersey. I may write more about this later. Right now, I am feeling intensely the effects both of bronchitis and a week of very little sleep (I swear, my grandmother's guest beds are made of concrete).

Apparently, I'm not the only one having strange dreams. Just before waking up I dreamt up the most bizarre crossover of real life, Twilight, and Perfect Dark.

It happened again.

This time, it was actually really funny. The man was not American; I think he was from Pakistan. I didn't even have a chance to say a single word to him before he asked. His first guess was that I was French, but this was quickly amended to Dutch.

I am a gaijin everywhere.

If this doesn't sound unusual, try saying it out loud. Preferably when there are no children around.

Saturday, I spent some time with The Assassin. He really wanted me to try out this Korean place in Chinatown (look, we just don't have that many Koreans in Houston, ok?) called Tofu Village. Now, I grew up near Chinatown, and was very familiar with the area. How hard could it be to find a Korean tofu restaurant in an area I already knew? ( Google Maps tells FILTHY, FILTHY LIES. )

Thus spake The Maternal Unit after a commercial came on for, I kid you not, "Anti-Monkey Butt Powder".

What in the hell is "monkey butt"? They never actually explain it in the ad.
